The location of this charming building is great, the Swahili house is situated in the bustling heart of Stonetown, this is a very authentic hotel at the heart of stonetown with traditional influences. Once the house of a wealthy trader in the 19th century, the presence of former residents are evident round every corner Later in the years that followed the building was home to one of the many Sultan families and then became a hotel some years ago. The rooftop bar and restaurant are a lovely setting to enjoy a drink or meal in the evening and breakfast. The restaurant is  considered is one of the finest in Stonetown and worth a visit whether you are staying here or not.

Swahili House is amid-range hotel has 22 traditionally furnished rooms in three different specifications spread over four floors.The rooms are arranged around a courtyard and crowned by a rooftop terrace. Rooms of various standards are available. Sultan Suites are the largest and have balconies, suites are smaller and without balconies  and Deluxe Rooms are not perhaps what one might consider deluxe.All rooms feature air-conditioning and a fan. Rooms do not have  TV, radio, safes or telephones.
